Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that the war in Gaza could end immediately if Hamas agrees to surrender its weapons and meet certain conditions. This statement comes amid increasing international pressure and threats of sanctions from the UK, France, and Canada over Israel’s continued military offensive in Gaza.
In response to criticism from London, Paris, and Ottawa — who have accused Israel of violating humanitarian law by blocking aid and worsening conditions in Gaza — Netanyahu said these leaders are punishing Israel for defending itself. The leaders recently issued a joint statement calling Israel’s actions unacceptable and warned of potential legal consequences.
Netanyahu reiterated that Israel will only cease its operations if:
- All hostages are released,
- Hamas disarms and its leaders are exiled,
- Gaza is completely demilitarized.
The Israeli PM emphasized that no country would accept less under such threats, and neither will Israel. The recent offensive, launched last Friday, follows Israel’s declared plan to take full control over Gaza. Aid to the region has also been halted for over two months, with fears rising over a possible famine.
